Need Jesus? >>> Are you a Christian?

Daily Verse
May 21, 2005 - Do Good

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

The characteristic that the first century church was in the way they treated others. They were persecuted and yet they returned evil with good. When someone was in need they met that need. Not only did they help and care for their neighbor but they made every effort to make sure that each person in the church was provided for and their spiritual needs were met.

Unfortunately, for many in the church, people feel more isolated and judged then feel loved. This is not a blanket statement for every Christian or church. The American church can’t help being influenced by the materialistic and individualistic society that surround them. We need to make sure that we not only love in words but in deed.

It was a very important characteristic that Paul wanted the Christian church in Galatia to exemplify. Doing good is more than going to church activities or attending church it is about being there for each other when we are in good times and bad. We should do good when we have the opportunity. The church should be the one place were people feel wanted and loved.
