The Call of Duty franchise has been struggling in the recent years, with the previous director, Glen Schofield, lamenting the drop in quality of the series and the recent years, and with the annual release strategy condemned by foreign media as creating player burnout and identity loss.With the introduction of refined systems, the match making and community engagement will be smoother, which will establish the basis of the rejuvenated experience, which will not feel new but will feel familiar.
One of such balances is the campaign mode. It takes place in the year 2035, and it runs on the cherished Black Ops 2 plotline, featuring many beloved characters, such as Mason and Menendez but reducing the entry barrier to the narrative. Most notably, it brings in four-player co-op, which is a first in the series and makes the franchise that is usually known for its linear storytelling feel more social without losing the twist-filled plots the franchise is known by. This nostalgia and newness combination explain the issue of complaints that the recent CoD campaigns are hasty and disconnected.
Multiplayer, the backbone of the series is given a long overdue makeover. Treyarch is providing 18 new maps which comprise of two colorful Japanese themed arenas that cover both the multiplayer and campaign mode. The introduction of 20v20 large-scale battles and the revival of wall-jumping make combat dynamic, whereas the new overclock system also allows players to customize scorestreaks and field upgrades during the game allowing them to make more tactical choices. Compared to new entries, maps are created to be compatible with all modes so that no information becomes wasted.
Another feature of Black Ops, zombie mode, also gets substantial upgrades. Older characters such as Dempsey and Takeo come back with an enhanced progression system and a new feature called a cursed mode that is unlocked after round 30. Treyarch has also adjusted weapon damage to high rounds and buffed excessively used weapons such as saw traps where a sense of fun and challenge is evident. This consideration of fan feedback corrects the stagnation in the later stages of the game that worked against earlier zombie modes.
Having the enthusiasm of Black Ops history, some improvements, and a desire to innovate where the last CoD games have failed, CoD BO7 Bot Lobby has everything to put the franchise back on the top. It is not a new entry, it is a relapse back to the greatness of Call of Duty. |
